Two new challengers seek to replace Davis
Wednesday, August 5, 2015 by Caleb Pritchard
Beneath the din of the major party presidential nominating contests rumbles the low hum of looming local showdowns as would-be county commissioners come out of the woodwork to declare their candidacies. The one-man race for Travis County Commissioners Court Precinct 1 has blossomed into a three-man contest with Jeffrey Travillion and Richard Franklin III joining James Nortey in the quest to replace outgoing Commissioner Ron Davis. None of the three is a stranger to Austin civic life. Franklin ran for the same seat in 2012, Nortey is a former city of Austin planning commissioner and Travillion has worked in city government as a staffer since 2000.
