Republishing Guidelines

The Austin Monitor’s mission is to strengthen our shared information space and democracy with you. To advance our mission and service the community, we are proud to make our journalism free for all to read and republish. Unless otherwise noted, you may republish our articles for free as long as you abide by our Creative Commons license and the following guidelines.

  1. All republished stories must be credited to the Austin Monitor and attributed to its author, preferably in this format: “By Elizabeth Pagano, Austin Monitor” with a link to the original article on our site.
  2. Republished articles must retain all original hyperlinks, including links to Austin Monitor newsletters, events and any other Austin Monitor calls-to-action embedded in the story.
  3. Photos and graphics may be republished along with the stories in which they originally appeared, as originally credited. For any other uses, you must seek permission from us by emailing publisher@austinmonitor.com
  4. When sharing republished stories, please mention/link to the Austin Monitor on Twitter, Facebook, and other applicable social media channels.
  5. Don’t sell the story or ask for donations against the story.
  6. Don’t sell ads against the story. (Feel free, however, to publish it on a page surrounded by ads you’ve already sold.)
  7. Do not sell or syndicate our content without prior approval. This includes publishing or syndicating our work on platforms such as Apple News.
  8. Do not scrape our website or use our stories to populate websites designed to improve search rankings or gain revenue from network-based advertisements. Your website must also include prominent links to your about page and contact information.
  9. When possible, include the following: The Austin Monitor is a nonprofit, nonpartisan media organization with a mission to strengthen our shared information space and democracy.
  10. If we send you a request to change or remove Austin Monitor content from your site, you must agree to do so immediately.

NOTE:

From time to time, the Austin Monitor publishes content written with other newsrooms as part of existing partnerships. Stories written with third-party partners are not available for republishing, unlike original Austin Monitor stories. For questions, email publisher@austinmonitor.com
