Time for new Faces of Austin
Wednesday, November 23, 2016 by Nora Ankrum
The city is calling for short film submissions for the Faces of Austin showcase for 2017. The films, solicited by the Economic Development Department’s Cultural Arts Division, are intended to “reflect the diverse faces, voices, and experiences of our City,” according to an announcement from the city. The best submissions will be chosen to screen at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March and will also air on ATXN. One filmmaker will also receive a Judge’s Choice prize of $1,000, and the filmmakers of the remaining selected shorts will each receive a $500 “cash honorarium.” More information, including submission criteria, is available here. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 23, 5 p.m.
