T.A. Brown rebuilds
Wednesday, August 29, 2018 by Katy McElroy
Nine months ago, voters approved the largest Austin Independent School District bond in history, and today the district is seeing the first ceremony for a project funded with the money from that bond. T.A. Brown Elementary has been closed since November 2016, when structural problems were found in the building. Today, there will be a site dedication at 9:30 a.m. under the bluetop at the school to kick off the on-the-ground effort to fix the issues with the building. The school’s Principal Veronica Sharp and Webb Primary Director Marizza Marquez will speak, and student representatives will participate in a green learning activity. Construction is set to begin in the fall. All of the students are currently attending school at Barrington Elementary.
