Students welcome at fourth annual Youth Career Fest
Tuesday, January 10, 2017 by Nina Hernandez
For the fourth year, the city’s Youth Council will be hosting a career fair for local high school students. The council, comprising 48 local high school students representing surrounding school districts, created the fair back in 2013 as a way to respond to teenage unemployment. Businesses will be on hand to talk internships and job opportunities with the next crop of Austin talent. Participating employers include the Austin Public Library, Cancer Rehab Austin, Round Rock Express, Formula 1 Racing, Austin-Travis County EMS and more. The event will take place on Jan. 31 at the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road, from 9:30 a.m.-noon. The festivities will begin with an opening ceremony to welcome the employers at 8:30 a.m. Find more information at www.austintexas.gov/kids or email samantha.thompson@austintexas.gov.
