Roadwork on MLK bridge
Monday, June 25, 2018 by Katy McElroy
Beginning today, capacity on the FM 969 (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) bridge over U.S. Highway 183 will be reduced. The closure is necessary so that the the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority can perform work to widen the bridge to three lanes each way. The reduction will take the road down to one lane for eastbound traffic crossing over U.S. 183, will extend from Tannehill Lane across the highway, and will last until July 1. In addition, a dual left turn lane from southbound 183 onto eastbound FM 969 will be closed. There are also overnight closures of the southbound on-ramp to 183 at FM 969 scheduled for Monday through Friday, June 25-29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. A detour will be posted that runs from Tannehill Lane to TechniCenter Drive. The authority is encouraging drivers traveling from eastbound FM 969 to southbound U.S. 183 during the day to use this detour to avoid congestion caused by the lane reduction.
