Preservation Austin announces merit awards
Wednesday, October 9, 2019 by Tai Moses
Each year, Preservation Austin selects a group of projects and advocates to honor with its Preservation Merit Awards, a juried program that aims to recognize “the hard work and visionary approaches of those preserving Austin’s unique architectural, cultural, and environmental heritage.” The awards are given in the categories of preservation and stewardship, plus some special recognition nods for education, public service and craftsmanship. Even a quick look at the recipients’ projects shows some of the thoughtfulness and care that goes into rehabilitating historical structures and making them relevant for our time – for all time. You can find a full list of this year’s recipients here. There will be a luncheon awards ceremony on Friday, Nov. 15, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel at 701 Congress Ave. Purchase tickets here.
