Parks department to monitor some park usage, Animal Services moves forward with dog adoptions
Friday, May 8, 2020 by Elizabeth Pagano
Austin’s Animal Services Office and Parks and Recreation Department announced Thursday that they will be adjusting their operations today, May 8, as part of a continued effort to fight the coronavirus. Starting this Friday, the parks department will monitor and reduce the use of Emma Long, Commons Ford Ranch and Walter E. Long metropolitan parks, turning away vehicles once capacity has been reached. On May 14, the parks department will begin issuing day passes for use of the three parks, Thursday through Sunday. More information about facility closures and new park rules can be found at austintexas.gov/parks.
Today the Austin Animal Center will begin offering dog adoptions to the general public through appointments. Those seeking to adopt a canine pal can view dogs on the AAC website, choose up to two dogs to meet, and schedule an appointment by emailing ASOAnimalAdoptions@austintexas.gov.
