One more week
Tuesday, May 3, 2016 by Elizabeth Pagano
If you are reading this, you are probably online, but if you’ve steered clear of social media for the past day or so, the Austin Monitor is going to link to BuzzFeed for you just this once. This past week brought word that Ridesharing Works for Austin has laid out just over $8 million on a pro-Prop 1 campaign so far. While that is clear, it remains unclear whether the incessant fliers, phone calls and polls were having a positive effect. Yesterday, Uber employees took to their smartphones, texting Austinites the message “____, this is _____ from Uber. Ridesharing is on the ballot & early voting ends tomorrow! Can we count on your vote FOR Prop 1 to keep Uber in Austin?” If Twitter and Facebook are to be trusted (and when haven’t they been?), then the campaign didn’t go over all that well. [Editor’s note: My message was from Nancy!]
