New member, officers at Central Health
Friday, December 15, 2017 by Katy McElroy
The Travis County Commissioners Court voted on Tuesday to name Shannon Jones, former director of Austin Public Health, to replace outgoing longtime Board Member Clarke Heidrick on the Central Health Board of Managers after his position is vacated on Dec. 31. Heidrick has been a member of Central Health since its creation, and he was its first chair. Jones was director of the health department from 2015 until his retirement in March and deputy director before that. He is also the founder and host of “Health Talk,” a call-in radio show on KAZI FM 88.7 that focuses on topics related to mental health. In addition, the board of managers has voted for the following members to serve as officers in 2018: Dr. Guadalupe Zamora, chair; Sherri Greenberg, vice chair; Dr. Charles Bell, treasurer; and Dr. Abigail Aiken, secretary.
