MoPac’s northbound express lane to open … finally
Friday, October 6, 2017 by Nina Hernandez
This weekend something miraculous is set to take place: The northbound MoPac Express Lane finally opens to traffic bright and early tomorrow morning. The lane starts at Lady Bird Lake Bridge and goes all the way up to RM 2222, where it connects with the north-end segment that opened last year. Rates will depend on traffic so that there’s a consistent flow of traffic at all times, though the base is 25 cents. (Keep in mind, Pay By Mail people pay about a third more by forgoing the electronic method.) “The wait is over and commuters can breathe a sigh of relief,” said Jeff Dailey, deputy executive director of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, in a Thursday press release. Learn more about the express lane (and check out the authority’s cheeky marketing campaign for it) here.
