MetroRail-ing continues
Wednesday, August 3, 2016 by Elizabeth Pagano
Yesterday, in an email with the subject heading “Forbes & Statesman Columns on MetroRail,” Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority President and CEO Linda Watson took on the critics. The full blog post on the viral Forbes article and Austin American-Statesman column is online here (and well worth a read). Also worth reading are these choice quotes from Watson’s missive: “Surprisingly, the author never made an attempt to obtain any facts or context from Capital Metro. Had he reached out to us, we would have been happy to meet with him to ensure he had a better grasp of the facts and background. Our initial attempts to reach him after this was published went unanswered. … It’s clear from other columns this author has written that he does not believe in publicly funded rail service, and he’s certainly entitled to his opinion, as we all are. I’m just alarmed that a respected publication like Forbes doesn’t require its blogger contributors to do a little fact checking with direct sources before publishing.”
