Join the conversation about poverty
Wednesday, September 13, 2017 by Elizabeth Pagano
This Thursday, the Travis County Democratic Party will be hosting a “community conversation on poverty.” The conversation will focus on how local government and community can best end homelessness – a very hot topic of late – and fight poverty. Joining the talk will be Mayor Steve Adler, Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt, CAN Executive Director and former City Council Member Raul Alvarez, County Commissioner Jeff Travillion, County Treasurer Dolores Ortega Carter, Austin Community College Trustee Sean Hassan, AISD Board Vice President Geronimo Rodriguez and District Court Judge Darlene Byrne. The event will take place at the Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods donations to help celebrate TCDP Chair Vincent Harding’s birthday.
