Holiday closures
Tuesday, December 20, 2016 by Nina Hernandez
The city is shutting down its offices on Friday, Dec. 23, and Monday, Dec. 26, for the Christmas holiday. Offices will also be closed to observe the new year on Monday, Jan. 2. During those weeks, Austin Resource Recovery will continue to pick up trash on schedule. City golf courses will stay open as well as Barton Springs Pool, although the city warns potential patrons to swim at their own risk because there will be no staff on hand. Get your books before 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, because Austin Public Library branches will be closed from then until after Christmas Day. Branches will also be closed Jan. 1-2. Options for safe New Year’s Eve rides can be found at www.austintexas.gov/gethomesafe.
