HD 46 situation continues
Tuesday, January 10, 2017 by Elizabeth Pagano
Over the weekend, state Rep. Dawnna Dukes (Austin) caused a bit of confusion when she announced that, despite her earlier announcement, she would not be resigning today after all. Would-be challenger Chito Vela remained undeterred and said he would continue his campaign, with a launch party to be held on Thursday. Gabriel Nila, who ran against Dukes in November and was prepared to run for the seat in the event of a special election, told the Texas Tribune that he was also prepared for Dukes to change her mind. And former Mayor Pro Tem Sheryl Cole, who was also planning on running for the seat, will announce what she intends to do now this afternoon. Stay tuned!
