Good news and bad news for MoPac commuters
Friday, September 15, 2017 by Nina Hernandez
There’s some good news on the horizon for anyone making a consistent trek across the city via MoPac, which has been ravaged by construction since approximately forever. But there is a light at the end of the long, long tunnel. According to a release from the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority yesterday afternoon, construction crews are spending this weekend laying down the final blessed layer of asphalt over the northbound express lane so that it can finally open. Of course, that news comes with a predictable catch. Starting today “drivers should anticipate travel delays” as the expressway will be reduced to a single lane from Enfield Road to RM 2222. “Drivers should consider alternative routes,” CTRMA rather helpfully suggests. Visit the CTRMA website for daily information on lane reductions.
