No Refusal in effect
Monday, August 20, 2018 by Katy McElroy
The Austin Police Department has issued a statement that it is conducting an extended No Refusal Initiative in an effort to discourage Labor Day revelers from getting behind the wheel after one too many Lone Stars. Already in place, the initiative began Aug. 17 and will be effective through Sept. 3. No Refusal is operational from 3 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily. As a reminder, during No Refusal, officials will be able to quickly obtain “blood search warrants” if someone is under arrest for a DWI and refuses to voluntarily give a blood or breath sample.
