County is content with Council PID vote
Wednesday, September 14, 2016 by Caleb Pritchard
Travis County is now sailing toward the creation of its first-ever public improvement district. On Tuesday, the Commissioners Court heard from staff on City Council’s recent conditional approval of the WildHorse Ranch PID. The massive development is inside city limits, a fact that gave Council the prerogative to bless or bust the county’s efforts to plant the PID there. Council gave the thumbs-up but included a provision that would allow the city to bail on funding construction on the project’s most important roadway if the developer doesn’t include a satisfactory volume of affordable housing units. Diana Ramirez, the county director of economic development and strategic investments, told the court on Tuesday that Council’s decision is kosher for the county. “We think that it’s workable,” Ramirez declared.
