Colony Park gets new health resource center
Tuesday, October 17, 2017 by Nina Hernandez
East Austin’s Colony Park area is due for a new health resource center in the neighborhood. It’ll be housed in an Overton Elementary School (7201 Colony Loop Drive) portable, near the Turner-Roberts Recreation Center that hosts a monthly Community Care mobile clinic. Austin Public Health is set to offer health screenings, diabetes classes in English and Spanish, help with the Medical Access Program, and referrals at the new center. And this is just the beginning. According to a Monday press release, the city is “working with Central Health to open a permanent health care clinic, which is called for in the recently completed Colony Park Master Plan.”
