Changing of the guard in Pool’s office
Tuesday, June 13, 2017 by Jo Clifton
Leslie Hethcox tells the Austin Monitor that although he’s taking a break from City Hall, where until recently he worked for City Council Member Leslie Pool, he is still employed by the city. Hethcox is now working for the Human Resources Department at One Texas Center. Many City Hall visitors will remember that Hethcox worked for Council Member Laura Morrison for several years prior to her exit from Council along with the rest of her colleagues at the end of 2014. Hethcox said he also needed a break from his hectic theatrical schedule, having performed nonstop in plays and musicals for the past two years. Some folks who never visited City Hall would recognize Hethcox from his work at the Zach Theatre, where he performed in “Mary Poppins” and “Sophisticated Ladies,” among others, and at the Georgetown Palace Theatre, where he appeared in “Xanadu.” Visitors to the Zilker Hillside Theater will likely remember his outstanding performance in “Little Shop of Horrors” also. As the Monitor noted on Monday, Suzie Chase, who worked previously for former Council Member Sheri Gallo, joined Pool’s staff as a temporary receptionist/constituent liaison. According to one of Pool’s aides, “We loved her and she loved us,” so she has taken the position on a permanent basis. Prior to coming to City Hall, Chase worked for a communications and public relations firm, and as a producer for both KEYE-TV and WFAA–TV.
