CAMPO to vote on LSTAR
Monday, August 8, 2016 by Nora Ankrum
The Transportation Policy Board of the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization will vote today on whether to keep the Lone Star Regional Rail Project in its 2040 long-range transportation plan. If it decides to remove LSTAR from the plan, it will no longer support studies, currently ongoing, of route options between Georgetown and San Antonio. “The Rail District is currently studying six alternative routes for commuter rail, some of which will advance for further study and public comment by the end of 2016,” according to a press release from LSTAR.”The action being considered by CAMPO on August 8 could mean that the $28 million invested thus far in Lone Star Rail will be lost.” The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Thompson Conference Center, 2405 Robert Dedman Drive.
