Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer precinct redistricting finalized
Thursday, June 9, 2016 by Kayleigh Hughes
The Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District finalized, during their May 26 board meeting, the redistricting of their five District Board of Director precincts, a move that was spurred by the need to include the annexed shared territory in Hays County. The board intended for the redistricting to also group communities of interests and their common sources of water supply. Generally speaking, there are two city of Austin urban precincts, one I-35 corridor urban precinct (with combined surface and groundwater supplies) and two rural precincts (one primarily Edwards Aquifer users, one primarily Trinity Aquifer users). Those who want to know more can visit the conservation district’s website here to read about the redistricting resolution and engage with an interactive map.
