Audits on the way
Monday, October 23, 2017 by Elizabeth Pagano
After getting a bit of scrutiny this past week, the city’s official audit plan is a go! The plan, which sets the agenda for audits in the coming year, has a few things that we are already excited about. According to the plan, the Office of the City Auditor will be seeking answers to a few intriguing questions: Is the Austin Police Department effectively responding to incidents involving people with special needs? Are lobbyists complying with city code provisions? Have actions taken to improve the permitting process as a result of prior audit and consultant reports resulted in improved services? What past work has been done by the city related to displacement and gentrification and what is the status of policy and program recommendations related to that work? And, the big meta-question: Are recommendations issued by the city auditor being implemented by departments? Stay tuned to find the answers to those (and other!) questions.
