Ask anything about redistricting
Tuesday, July 14, 2020 by Tai Moses
Have questions about redistricting? Want to get more involved in this vital civic process? City Auditor Corrie Stokes and the redistricting team will host an AMA – short for “ask me anything” – on Austin’s Reddit page today from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. Bring all of your questions about Austin’s redistricting process and get the answers. Redistricting happens in Austin just once every 10 years and gives residents an opportunity to redraw City Council districts and help shape the city’s future. This is the first time Austin will take a look at revising its districts after making the switch to single-member representation in 2014. There are two ways to play a role in the process: Residents may apply to be on the Citizens Redistricting Commission, which redraws the boundaries of the Council districts; or apply for the Applicant Review Panel, which helps select candidates to serve on the commission. Get more information and apply online at RedistrictATX.org.
