AISD PD hosts Halloween ‘Trunk or Treat’
Monday, October 21, 2019 by Tai Moses
The Austin ISD Police Department is hosting its first “Trunk or Treat” Halloween event, free for elementary school kids and their families. Various types of police vehicles with decorated trunks (stuffed with candy to give away) will be on display and kids are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite character. While elementary students from all over Austin are welcome, a special invitation is issued to kids attending kindergarten through fifth grade at the northeast Austin schools Andrews, Blanton, Harris, Hart, Pecan Springs, Pickle and Winn. AISD Sgt. Lance Cox, who is helping to coordinate the party, said in a press release, “We are excited to be able to offer this for the kids and look forward to everyone’s attendance.” Besides the candy, there will be free snacks and drinks, games, giveaways, a DJ and balloon animals on offer. According to the press release, “Dressing as a police officer may get children extra candy.” 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, Nelson Field, 7105 Berkman Dr.
