AISD celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
Thursday, September 6, 2018 by Katy McElroy
Hispanic Heritage Month runs from Saturday, Sept. 15, to Monday, Oct. 15, and the Austin Independent School District will join the rest of the country in using the time to recognize the diverse heritage of people here in the United States with ancestral roots in Spain, Mexico, and Central and South America. As is tradition, the district will get things going with a kickoff party: This year’s opening fiesta takes place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, at Travis Early College High School, and it will feature free food and special performances by district students.
