AISD board hears bond proposal
Wednesday, June 14, 2017 by Nina Hernandez
At a special meeting on Monday, the Austin Independent School District Board of Trustees heard a $989.3 million bond proposal from district administration. Under the proposal, the district would renovate or build 14 schools – without raising the tax rate. The board also considered a second group of projects that put together come out to $407.2 million. The bond was constructed with guidance from the Facility Master Plan, a 25-year plan for the district’s infrastructure, which was updated by the board in April. AISD expects the board will vote on the plan next Monday, June 19. If trustees give the proposal the OK, voters will get a chance to weigh in on Election Day, Nov. 7.
