ABIA lot brings creature comforts to those who wait
Friday, July 6, 2018 by Nora Ankrum
A newly renovated pit stop for travelers going to and from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport now has a convenience store, a fueling station and an apt new name: ABIA Retail, Food and Fuel. According to a press release from the city of Austin, the retail center – which doubles as a cell phone lot for people waiting to pick up passengers – has 120 parking spaces, includes charging stations for electric vehicles and will soon be serving up tacos and barbecue (in mid-July) along with more standard convenience-store fare. In the fall, Austin Java will bring drive-through coffee service to the mix. The center – which is powered by wind from Austin Energy’s Green Choice program and has green space irrigated with reclaimed water – can be found at 2901 Spirit of Texas Drive.
