PACE gathers momentum
Tuesday, March 15, 2016 by Nora Ankrum
When the Austin Monitor last checked in with the city’s Public Assembly Code Enforcement team (aka, PACE) – which is issuing daily reports about code violations downtown throughout South by Southwest – we learned that the weekend had been pretty uneventful, with only one citation issued, a handful of warnings given and not even one facility shut down. Well, things have picked up since then. According to the last report received on Monday, 10 citations and 34 warnings had been issued cumulatively since Friday. Also, two venues had been shut down: The Legendary Saloon at Banger’s was nabbed for over-occupancy, while mobile vendor Corn Bin You! got in hot water for having “no hot water,” according to city spokeswoman Melissa Alvarado.
