Moore takes district attorney primary
Wednesday, March 2, 2016 by Elizabeth Pagano
In the Travis County district attorney democratic primary, Margaret Moore held on to an early lead over opponent Gary Cobb. And, with about 84 percent of the vote counted, Cobb conceded the race. At the time, Moore had about 60 percent of the vote, and Cobb had about 35 percent, which was consistent with the totals throughout the evening. Though Cobb was an early favorite to replace outgoing DA Rosemary Lehmberg, his fortune turned when the Austin American-Statesman reported on his court-ordered debt owed to his ex-wife. Moore has served as county attorney and as an appointed Travis County commissioner, and she is retired from the state attorney general’s office.
