Monday, October 12, 2015 by Elizabeth Pagano

3. 4:00 PM: Consider and develop a recommendation regarding Fair Chance Hiring Practices concerning the use of conviction history in hiring and fair chance hiring practices by private employers in the City of Austin.

Monitor’s take: We wrote about this push – better known as “Ban the Box” – in September. The Economic Opportunity Committee will take up the issue again, with the intent to develop recommendations for City Council.

4. Consider and develop a recommendation on the Convention Center’s Long-Range Master Plan.

Monitor’s take: A proposal to expand the Convention Center is already floating around City Hall. Now that proposal, in the form of a master plan, is seeking committee acceptance on the way to the full City Council.
