The Planning Commission meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday at One Texas Center.

6. Preliminary Plan: C8-2013-0118 – Lightsey 2
Location: 1805 Lightsey Road, West Bouldin Creek Watershed, South Lamar NPA

  • The development has already faced opposition at the Board of Adjustment and during an earlier trip to the Planning Commission. It was also the subject of the most recent Environmental Board Citizens Communications, where concerned neighbors worried about plans to remove heritage trees on the land, even though the development was not being considered by the board.

  • Business owner Zilker Brewing wants to open wants to open a brewery/cocktail lounge at the Plaza Saltillo TOD. Owner is seeking a variance in order to allow his parking lot to be within 200 feet of residential properties. No known opposition.

13. Code Revision: CodeNEXT Code Approach Alternatives and Annotated Outline

  • CodeNEXT officials will brief Planning Commissioners on the Code Approach Alternatives and Annotated Outlines document, which describes three approaches for reorganizing and revising Austin’s Land Development Code (LDC). The approaches range from reorganizing the current content of the existing code to rewriting large sections of the LDC. CodeNEXT will brief the City Council on Oct. 2, with a Council decision scheduled for Oct. 23.

14. Briefing, Discussion and Possible Action: Pease Park Master Plan
Request: Briefing, discussion and possible action on a recommendation to City
Council on the Pease Park Master Plan.

  • The Planning Commission will discuss and possibly make a recommendation on the Pease Park Master Plan, which has drawn opposition from a group of Frisbee golf players upset that the plan does not restore the park’s Frisbee golf course.
