Morrison takes lead in early vote
Saturday, June 14, 2008 by Austin Monitor
According to the Travis County Clerk’s Office, Laura Morrison took 60 percent of the early vote in the race to replace outgoing Council Member Betty Dunkerley.
The early vote was tabulated quickly but it could be quite some time before additional boxes come in. However, Morrison’s opponent, Cid Galindo will have to make up a deficit of more than 2,000 votes in this very low turnout election in order to win the race.
Just 2.37 percent of city voters cast ballots early in this race. Morrison’s tally was 6,064 to Galindo’s 4,010.
