Town hall puts spotlight on disabilities and public safety

Mayor Steve Adler, the Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities, the Office of Police Oversight and the Equity Office will be co-hosting an online town hall to allow community members with disabilities to share their experiences with the Austin Police Department with city leaders. Mayor Adler said in a news release about the event, “We are committed to working toward universal access for persons with disabilities. Austin must lead on facilitating full inclusion with respect to learning, working and playing in our city. That means taking the time to listen to community members living with disabilities and understand their experiences.” American Sign Language and Spanish interpretation will be offered and additional language translations and accessibility accommodations are available upon request.
