Statesman makes news

On Tuesday, the Austin American-Statesman made its own headlines twice with the news that the paper is for sale and is suing the city over its refusal to release the names of city manager candidates. Cox Enterprises, which has owned the paper since 1976, put the Statesman up for sale in 2008, before ultimately taking it off the market in 2009. The lawsuit, announced Tuesday afternoon, seeks disclosure of the candidates for Austin city manager, though the paper’s stakeout of the top-secret interviews has already yielded results.
