St. John Park reopens
Friday, March 22, 2019 by Chad Swiatecki
The city has reopened a largely renovated St. John Neighborhood Park, located at 889 Wilks Ave. in Northeast Austin, after completing $450,000 of work that began in November. Among the improvements are an entry plaza, park information kiosk, water fountain, pavilion, playscape and swings, and a more open lawn with a walking trail. The park was the recipient of the first ACL Music Festival Impact Grant, receiving $100,000 in 2017. That money was combined with $200,000 from the city’s 2012 bond funds, $50,000 from the Austin Parks Foundation and $100,000 in proceeds from the Dell Match Play golf tournament, which returns to Austin Country Club next week.
