Southeast Austin library closed for renovation

Friday, September 1, 2017 by Nina Hernandez

On Sept. 18, the Austin Public Library will close its Southeast Branch on Nuckols Crossing Road for foundation repairs, a process that the department expects to take six months to complete. The closure will affect certain regular library programs, some of which will be available at the Dove Springs Recreation Center during that time. One of those services is a bookmobile lending service the recreation center will host beginning Sept. 18 that will continue until the library reopens. It will be open Wednesdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The center is also scheduled to host the following services and activities for kids: computer access, bilingual storytime, Lego Lab, Japanese Club, video games and more. Beginning in October, adults will have access to select drop-in computer lab hours. The Library department also recommends the Pleasant Hill Branch on William Cannon as an alternative.
