The (second) most wonderful time of the year
Tuesday, January 24, 2017 by Nina Hernandez
That’s right. The second most wonderful time of the year – no, not Thanksgiving – arrives yet again. Free city of Austin mulch, created from local leftover Christmas trees, is available starting at 9 a.m. this Thursday, Jan. 26. Drop in to the Zilker Polo Fields with your own tools and storage containers to pick up your share, but hurry: It’s a first-come, first-served operation. This year’s festivities, which divert an estimated 20,000 trees from our landfill every holiday season, were delayed by the extremely wet weather we’ve experienced since the holidays. Learn more about drop-off hours and guidelines at the city’s website.
