And the only prescription is more … mobility discussion

Wednesday, July 13, 2016 by Kayleigh Hughes

In its journey toward rewriting Austin’s land development code, CodeNEXT has released the third of its four code “prescriptions” — this one on the topic of mobility — which are meant to stimulate discussion about city issues and how they related to the land development code. The main subtopics of the prescription (which can be viewed in full here), according to the Planning and Zoning Department, are as follows: changing from an auto-centric city to a multimodal region; mitigating the effects of congestion; parking; affordability; cost of growth and safety. The CodeNEXT team has set a number of engagement opportunities in which the public can discuss the prescriptions, which are listed here. Previous prescription topics were “natural and built environment” and “household affordability.”
