Parklet prep
Tuesday, September 4, 2018 by Katy McElroy
The city is gearing up for PARK(ing) Day, an annual, worldwide event where people transform metered parking spaces into “parklets,” or miniature parks, for a day. This year’s big day is Friday, Sept. 21, and to make sure everyone is fully prepared, there is a planning kick-off meeting tomorrow. The event will offer interested people and organizations a chance to mingle and brainstorm ideas for parklets, and also find guidance on practical details through a Q&A session and application packet assistance. The mixer will be Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at TBG, 1705 Guadalupe St. #500. The event is free: You can sign up on Eventbrite or Facebook. And keep an eye on the Eventbrite and Facebook event pages for more information about participants and their parklets, and follow #ParkingDayATX for live updates.
