PARD apologizes for camp registration snafu
Thursday, February 13, 2020 by Tai Moses
Parents registering their kids for a Parks & Recreation Nature and Adventure Camp got a nasty surprise last week when the online registration system crashed just as registration opened. Many people experienced a nail-biting wait of up to two hours while trying to register. When the vendor was unsuccessful at fixing the problem, the parks department suspended registration until the following weekend. Despite the problems, many people were able to register, and if you are one of them, PARD wants you to know that your registration is valid. Remaining spots in the Nature and Adventure Camp will be displayed on Friday, Feb 14. PARD has briefed Council and the mayor about the debacle and released a statement to the public, saying, “The Department apologizes to registrants for the unacceptable performance of the registration system. PARD will continue working to ensure proper system performance for future registration periods.” PARD has been working with the vendor to make sure there is no repeat performance and that people will be able to register for the rest of the department’s summer camps without fear.
