November campaign could be a rematch for Casar
Thursday, July 7, 2016 by Caleb Pritchard
City Council Member Greg Casar appears to have drawn a rematch in his quest for re-election, thanks to the apparent entry of a candidate he ran against in 2014. According to the City Clerk’s website, Louis C. Herrin III filed paperwork to appoint himself as his campaign treasurer last week. However, the website also indicates that Herrin has not yet filed a valid application to appear on November’s ballot. Herrin still has until July 25 to get that done. Herrin’s first opportunity to get that done is July 25. The final deadline for ballot applications is Aug. 22. His potential candidacy sets up a round two of sorts against Casar. In 2014, Herrin placed seventh in the eight-person race that advanced Casar and Laura Pressley to the December runoff that Casar then won handily. As of Wednesday night, Herrin had not returned a call from a reporter seeking to confirm whether he is, in fact, running and why.
