No left turn for you

Friday, September 9, 2016 by Nora Ankrum

Some downtown drivers will have to adjust their routes beginning today, according to an announcement from the Austin Transportation Department. Motorists traveling east on Cesar Chavez Street will no longer be allowed to turn left onto North Lamar Boulevard; instead, they can drive past Lamar, turn left onto Walter Seaholm Drive and double-back to Lamar by turning left on Second Street. The change, according to the transportation department, is part of the ongoing implementation of the city’s Traffic Congestion Plan and is intended to “improve mobility and safety near the North Lamar Boulevard Bridge.”
