National Night Out kicks off tomorrow
Friday, September 29, 2017 by Nina Hernandez
Tuesday is this year’s National Night Out, a community policing event that is celebrating its 34th year. Tomorrow, the Austin Police Department and local neighborhood associations team up to kick off the effort with a day of fun at Reagan High School. Starting at 10 a.m., residents will learn about crime and drug prevention, be exposed to local crime prevention efforts, and enjoy games, entertainment and music. There will also be food for sale, which will benefit the Austin Police Community Liaison Corporation, the nonprofit that funds the department’s outreach efforts. The city asks neighborhoods taking part in the Oct. 3 festivities to use the hashtag #NNOAustin on any social media posts. Learn more about National Night Out here.
