Meet the finalists for Capital Metro CEO
Monday, January 8, 2018 by Caleb Pritchard
This evening is the public’s one and only chance to size up the four finalists for the open president/CEO position at the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The agency is holding a town hall starting at 6 p.m. at the Austin Independent School District’s Performing Arts Center at 1500 Barbara Jordan Blvd. Former CBS Austin anchor Ron Oliveira will moderate the event, which will feature questions submitted by the public via email in recent days. It’s also being counter-programmed against a regular meeting of the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, so transportation policy junkies – including three Capital Metro board members who also sit on CAMPO – will have a tough decision to make. Speaking of tough decisions, the Capital Metro board is scheduled to select its preferred candidate at a special meeting on Tuesday morning. A final contract will be approved at a regularly scheduled meeting on Jan. 29.
