Mayor announces homebuyer assistance program

Mayor Steve Adler plans to announce the Austin launch of a new homebuyer assistance program this morning at City Hall. With $5 million in total available funds, the grant program, called NeighborhoodLIFT, will provide qualified homebuyers with up to $7,500 in matching funds to go toward the down payment on a new home. The program is a collaboration among Wells Fargo, NeighborWorks® America and BCL of Texas, and they are hosting an event Aug. 26-27 at the Renaissance Austin Hotel downtown featuring homebuyer education sessions and providing information about the program.
