Lime and Revel offer special programs to help community during quarantine
Friday, April 24, 2020 by Ryan Thornton
Micromobility company Lime rolled out its Lime Aid program in 14 cities, including Austin, yesterday. The program offers discounts to health care workers and first responders during the ongoing Covid-19 health crisis. The company is also offering free 30-minute rides to public health workers and law enforcement officers who sign up for their service. After pausing their Austin service in late March, the company has deployed and reactivated a small number of scooters for use. Lime is partnering with the city to determine the most appropriate deployment spots to serve essential workers. Shared electric scooter company Revel is also extending its free ride program, which offers free membership and a discounted rate to all types of health care workers, through May 15 in Austin. Revel is also offering free monthlong memberships for delivery service to Austin restaurants. A number of local restaurants, including Torchy’s Tacos and El Arroyo, have already been using the service to avoid fees typically charged by delivery platforms and to allow their employees to make food deliveries.
