Jim Bennett has passed away
Tuesday, February 23, 2016 by Elizabeth Pagano
On Sunday night, the Austin Monitor was saddened to learn that Jim Bennett has passed away after a long battle with heart disease. Bennett worked for the city’s planning departments for more than three decades before retiring. After retirement, he stuck around City Hall, helping guide Austinites through what might otherwise be the confusing process of obtaining permits, variances and zoning changes from the city. The Monitor would like to express our sincere condolences to his loved ones. We will miss passing the time with him during the long nights at the Board of Adjustment as well as his guidance in understanding the more obscure parts of city code. Visitation will be held today at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Ave. The funeral will take place on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army of Austin. More information about the services can be found here.
