It’s time to hurry up and get storm debris to the curb
Wednesday, March 22, 2023 by Bob Sechler
If you still have storm debris that you want the city to haul off, make sure you get it to your curb by March 31. That’s the advice of Austin Resource Recovery, which expects to finish its second pass through the city to collect storm debris this week and is only planning one more sweep after that. Through March 20, crews have collected 166,000 tons of storm debris in over 23,000 truckloads, according to the city. It said the final citywide pass will begin in April and is expected to be finished by the end of the month. Customers don’t need to call 311 to request collection for the final citywide pass, because crews will drive all streets and pick up debris that’s properly set at the curb. Guidelines for setting out storm debris can be found here. After April, customers should contact 311 to request a special collection for remaining storm debris, the city said. Crews will respond to 311 service requests through June 30.
