Interim manager coming
Wednesday, August 31, 2016 by Jo Clifton
Usually reliable sources have told the Austin Monitor that there are two candidates for the job of interim city manager: Assistant City Manager Robert Goode and Chief Financial Officer Elaine Hart. The same sources say that Assistant City Manager Bert Lumbreras is not in contention for the interim position because he has decided to apply to be city manager. City Council is likely to announce its choice for interim manager on Thursday. At the end of Tuesday’s Council work session, Mayor Steve Adler told his colleagues that Assistant City Manager Mark Washington would post information about what should be contained in the request for qualifications for the consultant who will help the city conduct the search for city manager candidates. Adler said he hopes that Council can approve the RFQ process on Thursday so the city can move forward with finding a consultant. Staff is recommending at least six to nine months to find a new manager, especially if Council decides there should be extensive community engagement.
